DISKEDIT

By the point of starting this album, it was clear that Game Boy Advance soundtracks combine many of the elements that resonate with me: 90s synthesis, resampling that synthesis, and a tracker-based workflow. Fortunately Furnace Tracker includes the GBA MinMod chip to recreate this workflow.

Using Vital (in FL Studio) to generate and export synthesized chords, they were re-imported to Furnace as a sample. The repeating chords heard in the background of the song are made from triggering this sample at two different pitches. The rest of the track builds around that core.

This style of upbeat electronica, and the resampling used, is inspired by the GBA era of Yu-Gi-Oh! gameswhich I consider to be some of the best music on the system.
