This was actually the first track produced on this album, with the intention of being able to release the project files. The album concept, a_new_day_in_the_workshop, hadn’t emerged yet though.
After this, and the two other “proto” tracks were created and released on YouTube (originally without the “proto” name), several things happened around me which diffused my passion for making music. I ended up discovering that spark again by consciously treating each new track as a “new day in the workshop” – that is a new experiment, and a new step in developing my craft.
proto_spokehul utilizes bespoke synthesis using Cardinal, aiming to combine emotional synths and interesting percussion, as I am indeed one of the many people inspired by Aphex Twin‘s work in the same blend.
