I. The majority of sounds in this track went through convolution reverb, using non-traditional impulse responses for creative sound design. There were eveninstances of putting entire layer groups through convolution, and then re-sampling and cutting up the result. II. This was my first time trying the “Fire” distortion plugin by jerryuhoo. It allows for multi-band separation, which is very helpful for sound sculpting.III. Reaper allows keymapping almost any action. I was able to map Pitch Shifting to numpad keys for to keep the creative process flowing.IV. One of Reaper’s actions allows for splitting a long sample along gridlines. By then applying fades to each split, it creates sidechain-like rhythmic effect. V. The ending track was then run through pitch + speed shifts in Audacity. While taking a break, I had the idea for having two of these shifts in the end result itself, trying to express a sense of refractive multidimensionality.
