On the Role of Artists

The role of the Artist has always been, and always will be, to follow, curate, and share Resonance.

This role has always been invisible from the perspective of economic productivism. In many subcultures, calling yourself an Artist is seen as “pretentious”. An artistic lifestyle is rarely reinforced by funding.

These reasons are why it is often hard for artistic people to be themselves publicly.

We often become Artists after we have encountered profound moments of Resonance, usually through the work of other Artists. We often become Artists when we develop a deep desire to give back to the world moments of Resonance, as we have been given.

As an Artist, you won’t be understood by every subculture, or in every environment – but we need to, at minimum, not hide that lifestyle from ourselves.
