Inspired by the resurgence in 90s Jungle music, and the drumming that emulates it, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to get better at drum programming.
MSG-PAL-98-MkII is a remix of the first one, and despite its “chill” influences, it ended up staying quite bubbly. I tried to keep all sounds quite short to keep plenty of air space for the drums. Unintentionally, this meant that when it hits the chorus with longer synths and bass line, it provides a more satisfying contrast and payoff.
The white background of Furnace tracker in these videos was actually created through a video inverter effect in Kdenlive, not a new theme in Furnace itself. While I would love to have a light theme for Furnace to reflect the upbeat vibe of this album, setting one up is not at all a quick job.
