I’ve always been interested in creating my own audio tools. I am most inspired by producers who make their own tools for their workflow (e.g. BT, Aphex Twin).
As throughout this album I was wrestling with the musical benefits of destructive processes, but still wanting to stick to a fully-open workflow, I started developing my own tool to answer this. The idea behind Floral Sample Toolkit is that you can apply destructive DSP to an audio sample, but it creates a text log of exactly what was done. This text log can then be shared so that others can recreate the process. A future version may be able to read in the text log and run all the same processes automatically.
