I. This track (and what hopes to be an album) was inspired by albums in the Plunderphonics genre. The difference here is that I am pulling from my own Public Domain music, so no clearance needed 🙂II. I often don’t use compressors or limiters (despite what is often call best practices). This time I felt like giving them another shot on the master chain. In the end, I decided to add a waveshaper and reverb after the compressor and limiter (which of course was another creative choice going against industry advice..)III. It ended up working well re-importing the super-loud reverb export from II, and fading it in behind the original track. While the end result is not as loud, it does retain some of the original groove better, while adding “filled-out-space” vibe of the reverb export.
